As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

Age: 26

Cause of Death: Motorcycle accident

Deputy Michael Thomas died on Sunday, May 25, 2008 of injures he sustained one month earlier when his Department motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck.

Deputy Thomas was on patrol and traveling west on Emery Highway. As he approached the Lakeside Road a pick-up truck pulled out in front of him. Deputy Thomas struck the truck and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he died one month later from his injuries.

Deputy Thomas had served with the Bibb County sheriff's Office for eight years.
